Give the Ask agent the ability to send WhatsApp messages and emails

To send WhatsApp messages or emails, to customers or to you, the Ask agent needs a number or a mailbox of yours connected as a source.

Which source to create

Picture: the Sources list under Sources in the left sidebar, with each source’s name and type icon, who has access to it and when it was last updated, and the New button.

The Ask agent has no phone number or mailbox of its own. To message a customer on WhatsApp, to email someone, or to notify you, the Askpilot user who manages the workflow, it uses a number or a mailbox of yours, connected as a source.

  • WhatsApp. Create a source of the WhatsApp (AI Number) type. It gives the Ask agent your WhatsApp number to send and read messages with, and to message you on.
  • Email. Create a source of the Microsoft Outlook type. It gives the Ask agent a mailbox to read, send and reply to emails from.

Creating a source and connecting it to your tool is explained on the Sources page, at Step 1. Create the source and Step 2. Set up the source.

Put it in a workflow

Once the source is connected, select it for the workflow, in the workflow’s Sources field or in the message box when you start the workflow manually, as How the Ask agent uses sources explains. Then name it in the PROCESS.md, “send it on WhatsApp with the WhatsApp number source” for example, as Escalations on the PROCESS.md page shows.
