# Connect your AI agent (MCP)

On this page you can learn how to connect Askpilot to the AI agent you already use, such as Claude or ChatGPT, and what your AI agent can then do with Askpilot.

## What Askpilot MCP is

Askpilot is workflow automation infrastructure for AI agents. Your AI agent plans the work with you, and Askpilot runs it. Askpilot MCP connects Askpilot to the AI agent you already use: ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code, Codex, Gemini, Cursor, VS Code or any other client that supports MCP. MCP, the [Model Context Protocol](https://modelcontextprotocol.io/), is the open standard AI agents use to connect to other tools.

## What your AI agent can do

With Askpilot MCP connected, your AI agent can:

- **Build a workflow:** talk through what you want to automate, such as how you qualify new leads, then set it up in Askpilot and test it with you.
- **Run workflows on demand:** ask your AI agent to start one or several workflows when you need them, see what each one did, and find out what is waiting for you.
- **Review and improve workflows:** see how a workflow did over past runs, find out why something went wrong, and improve it.
- **Track credit spending:** check your plan and credits left, see what each run cost, and find the workflows that spend the most.
- **Manage your organization:** set up your connected tools, invite and manage team members, and update your organization’s details.

Every action it takes shows up in the Askpilot app straight away.

1. Open **Customize** → **Connectors** and click **+** to add a custom connector.
2. Enter *Askpilot* as the name and `https://mcp.askpilot.com/mcp` as the URL, then click **Add**.
3. Click **Connect** and sign in with your Askpilot account.
4. Start a new conversation. On Claude Team or Enterprise, an owner adds the connector for the organization first.

Claude Code in your terminal

1. Run this in your terminal:`claude mcp add --transport http askpilot https://mcp.askpilot.com/mcp`
2. In Claude Code, run `/mcp`, choose *askpilot* and sign in with your Askpilot account.

chatgpt.com

1. Turn on **Developer mode** in ChatGPT’s settings. On Business and Enterprise, a workspace admin allows it first.
2. Create a new app with *Askpilot* as the name, `https://mcp.askpilot.com/mcp` as the MCP server URL and OAuth as the authentication.
3. Sign in with your Askpilot account when asked.
4. In a new chat, choose Askpilot from the tools menu.

OpenClaw

1. Run this in your terminal:`openclaw mcp add askpilot --url https://mcp.askpilot.com/mcp --transport streamable-http`
2. Or open **Settings** → **MCP** in the Control UI, click **Add server**, choose **Streamable HTTP** and paste the URL.
3. Sign in with your Askpilot account when asked, or run `openclaw mcp login askpilot`.

Hermes Agent

1. Add the block below to `~/.hermes/config.yaml`.
2. On first connect, Hermes opens your browser to sign in with your Askpilot account. You can also run `hermes mcp login askpilot`.

Any other AI agent that supports remote MCP servers connects in a similar way: add the URL above as a remote (HTTP) MCP server. To learn how, check your AI agent’s own docs on adding an MCP server.

## Internal knowledge base

Askpilot MCP comes with its own knowledge base: documents about how Askpilot works, which your AI agent reads before it takes any action. For example, they explain how workflows, sources and sessions work and how to write a good PROCESS.md, and give examples of workflows it can use.

## Security and your data

- **It acts as you.** Every action runs with your account, your role and your permissions. Your AI agent cannot see or change anything you could not see or change in the Askpilot app. See [Roles and permissions](https://askpilot.com/docs/roles-and-permissions.html).
- **Approvals still apply.** When a workflow waits for your approval, your AI agent asks you and passes on your answer, or you approve it in the session in Askpilot, as [When the Ask agent needs an input](https://askpilot.com/docs/sessions.html#when-it-needs-you) explains.
- **Every action shows in the Askpilot app.** Every workflow, source and session your AI agent creates or starts, and every change it makes, appears in Askpilot like any other.
- **Disconnect at any time.** Remove the Askpilot connector in your AI agent’s settings, and it loses access to your Askpilot data.
